Magic Wand: Fat Injection 

1.What is the fat injection? What is the difference with normal filling ?

Fat injection is the injection of fat from a part of your body where fat is stored with the help of syringes and special cannulas, centrifuging and injecting it into some parts of the body after filtering. During the procedure, adipose tissue is taken from the patient through miniature punctures (from the “problem areas” - the abdomen, buttocks, thighs), processed by a centrifuge, cleaned of impurities and anesthetics, and inserted with a thin needle into problem areas where there is not enough volume: in the cheeks, chin, forehead, in deep facial wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid fillers: such preparations retain a long-lasting effect, have good biocompatibility and also can replenish and retain the necessary moisture in the deeper layers of the skin. 

2.Which areas can be injected with fat ?

It can be done to any part of the body that we have agreed with you and think there is a lack of volume. Normally these areas are the cheeks, chin, forehead, in deep facial wrinkles. 

3.How long does it last?

The most frequently asked question is the permanence of the fat, which is taken with the right technique and purified. Normally it is between 50-70% for non-smoker patients. For the smokers this rate decreases to 10-20%. 

4.How is the procedure done and what should I consider afterwards ?

The procedure should be performed in a full-fledged hospital, under local or general anesthesia, depending on the patient and the amount of fat to be transfered. After the procedure, we usually discharge our patients the same day. The next 2-3 days we recommend to have rest as mush as possible depending on the anesthesia type. You are required to skip smoking minimum for 1-1.5 months in the postoperative period. 

5.What are the most common areas for fat injections?

Well, normally it’s used for the following zones like face, cheeks and cheekbones, under the eyes, chin line, lips (but I do not recommend too much), breast, hips (outer thigh), buttocks. 

6.Should I get that procedure frequently?

In general nearly 50% of the injected fat melts in non- smoking patients. For this reason, the second session of this procedure is performed in patients who wants to increase the volume of fat up to 80-90%. The 2nd session can be done in 3-6 months. 

7.What is the best for me: filler or fat injection ?

I only recommend hyaluronic acid filler to the lips, fat injection for all remaining areas of the face and body is more reliable, more permanent and it’s a less costly method. Since the fat injection is a little less fluid and thick particulate liquid, it is a method that we can achieve an increase in size rather than shaping on the lips, so I do not recommend fat injection for lips. Fat cells take root slowly and not all, and often, to fill in the missing volume, more procedures may be needed than with hyaluronic acid injections. However, the adherent fat cells in some cases can hold the volume longer than hyaluronic fillers. The best treatment for you can be identified during the consultation.
